The Lincoln Electric Conarc 51 is a premium, basic-coated low-hydrogen electrode (AWS E7016-1) engineered for critical welding applications. Known for its exceptional impact toughness at low temperatures (down to -50Cº), it provides a stable arc and deep penetration, making it an ideal choice for root pass welding on pipes and structural steel.
Description
The Lincoln Electric Conarc 51 is a high-performance MMA (Manual Metal Arc) electrode designed to meet the stringent demands of industries such as offshore oil and gas, bridge building, and pressure vessel fabrication. Classified as an E7016-1 H4R, it offers extremely low hydrogen levels (typically <3mg/100g when used from vacuum-sealed packaging), which significantly reduces the risk of hydrogen-induced cracking in sensitive steel grades.
- Key Welding Characteristics: It is specifically designed with a thin coating to improve joint access during root pass welding in all positions (except vertical down). The electrode produces a stable arc with outstanding penetration and is compatible with both AC and DC (DCEN recommended for pipe roots) power sources.
- Low-Temperature Performance: One of its standout features is its reliable impact toughness, maintaining excellent values at temperatures as low as -50ºC. It also meets NACE requirements and provides good CTOD (Critical Tip Opening Displacement) values at -10ºC, ensuring safety in offshore environments.
- Packaging Options: For maximum protection against moisture, it is often available in Sahara Ready Pack (SRP) vacuum sealing, which allows for immediate use on-site without the need for prior re-baking.
- Broad Compatibility: It is suitable for a wide range of steel grades, including general structural steels (S185 to S355), ship plates, and pipe materials up to X100 grade.
